Launch of the 10th National Conference on Communications (NCC 2026)

On Thursday 16th April 2026, the Uganda Communications Commission launched the 10th National Conference on Communications (NCC 2026) at UCC House Bugolobi, marking the start of preparations for Uganda’s leading ICT research and innovation platform. Scheduled for June 24th – 26th, 2026, the conference will convene stakeholders from government, academia, industry, and the innovation ecosystem under the theme “Accelerating Market-Driven Research and Innovation for Uganda’s Development,” with a focus on strengthening the link between research and practical application while showcasing locally developed solutions.

In his remarks, the Executive Director of UCC, Hon. Nyombi Thembo, underscored the strategic importance of the National Conference on Communications (NCC) as Uganda's platform for stakeholders to engage issues shaping Uganda’s digital ecosystem. He noted that the conference is anchored in three objectives: a platform for presenting peer-reviewed research with ICT solutions, engaging in dialogue on emerging trends and challenges, and facilitating professional networking among innovators and practitioners. Reaffirming UCC’s commitment, he described the NCC as an initiative to stimulate innovation, foster collaboration, and advance ICT growth. He emphasized that communications research remains critical in unlocking homegrown solutions that respond to both current and future national needs.

The event was graced by key officials from Makerere University, the institution responsible for hosting this year’s event. They were led by Prof. Kizito Maria Kasule, the Deputy Principal College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT). In his address, Prof. Kizito encouraged collaboration between UCC and Academia to enable the country benefit fully. He reiterated Makerere’s commitment to making this year’s event a success with impactful outcomes.

The event was also graced by ISBAT University who hosted NCC in 2025, and it included an award giveaway ceremony for those that won in the Best Paper category in the 9th Edition of NCC.
